Founded in 2015 and headquartered in San Francisco, Pipefy is a no-code workflow management software. The Series C company has been lauded in recent years with countless awards, including best business process management platform, best company outlook, most active employees on social media— and perhaps most importantly, the best company with the best CEO for diversity.

Alessio Alionco, born and raised on Brazil, recently said in a podcast:

“From day one, I wanted to create a global first culture and way of engaging and cooperating… if you do not invest in that type of diversity from the beginning, it will be really hard to recruit top talent.”

Here are the important ways that he and his team have been investing in diversity so far.

Quick Facts

  • Latinx founded and led
  • A Suite of diversity initiatives
  • Publishing diversity breakdown and concrete goals
  • Great employee rankings and reviews
  • Hiring for remote roles!

Diversity Initiatives

In 2018, Pipefy created a Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee (DIB)— impressive for a Series A company. Since then, they have continued taking concrete steps toward embracing diversity, inclusion, and belonging at the company. Among these, they’ve hired Michelle Antonio, a Culture and Diversity Specialist and have created a range of employee resource groups (ERGs). You’ll also see on their careers page that they have created an exclusive talent pool for certain opportunities, prioritizing candidates that identify as women, black, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities.

Diversity Breakdown & Concrete Diversity Goals

According to Michelle Antonio, Pipefy’s goals are “focusing on retaining black collaborators and expanding female leadership, while also being concerned with accessibility and increasing the psychological safety of our environments.” They have set two concrete goals for 2022:

  1. Reaching 40% of leadership positions occupied by women;
  2. Growing Black representation to 20% of the total team.

Pipefy announced that they have already made progress towards these goals: in the first quarter of 2022, 37% of new hires were Black people, moving the company from 13% representation in 2021 to 19%. Additionally, among new hires, 45% were women and 15% were people from the LGBTQIA+ community. What an incredible first half of the year!

Great Employee Rankings and Reviews

According to Comparably, diverse employees score the company 89/100, placing Pipefy in the top 5% of companies based on diversity score. The score is informed by how diverse employees feel and rate their work experience at Pipefy across various culture dimensions. A few highlights:

  • 91% of diverse employees believe they are paid fairly
  • 88% of diverse employees recommend working at Pipefy
  • 99% of diverse employees say their work environment is positive.

With a 4.4 star rating on Glassdoor (and impressively “No cons to display at this time” from over 150 employee reviews), Pipefy is a fast-growing company challenging the status quo in the tech space. Therefore was thrilled to introduce our community to this company that is really embedding DEI into the foundations of their business and strategy!
